Safeway Parking Lot Car Camping Experience in Astoria Oregon

By Cameron McKirdy

Survival Bros sleeps in a 1986 Volkswagen Vanagon GL, down by the Columbia River for free.  There’s a row of RV parking near the Safeway gas station in Astoria, OR.  It’s an ideal place for travelers to crash without having to drop big bucks on a hotel.  This location is something for car campers to consider when visiting Clatsop County.  There’s not many spots where you can camp overnight within city limits, since being homeless is a (victimless) crime.  Find out if the Army of sea lions drove me crazy from all the noise.  More van dwelling videos, and tips on our emergency preparedness blog http://www.survivalbros.com

Cliff Walk at Oregon Beach in Oswald West State Park – GoPro

Scary GoPro Black High-Definition video footage at Devil’s Cauldron from Survival Bros.  Shot with my HD Head Camera on, while walking above a rocky cliff near the Oregon Coast Trail.  This state long hiking trail follows the shore, and includes sections on paved Highway 101.  These cliffs are close to the Neahkahnie Mountain trail head.  More GoPro videos coming soon on this blog.  Exciting, I know!

Be safe outdoors.  And remember, it didn’t happen unless there’s video proof of it.  Email me at thesurvivalbros@gmail.com if you have questions, comments, or would like to share an article/something you’ve produced.  I’m always looking for EDC pictures.  So let’s see the pocket dumps, and which items you find useful daily.  Thanks.

FOX 12 Good Day Oregon – Professional Eaters

By Cameron McKirdy

Watch my brother Andrew McKirdy and I display our professional eating techniques on LIVE TV!  This “On The Go with Joe” segment was produced by KPTV Fox 12 for Good Day Oregon.  We were promoting the BBQ and Brewfest “Smokin’ at The Ocean” which featured The World Rib Eating Championship held my Major League Eating in Lincoln City at Chinook Winds Casino.

We had a blast representing for our city Seaside, Oregon.  This was shown across the state, and Southwest Washington.  We had to wake up around 4 A.M. to get camera ready.  Mainly, I just had to put pink gel in my mohawk.  It looked like a rib, and I thought it would bring me great fortune in the eating contest.  I ended up putting down nearly 4 pounds of succulent rib meat in 12 minutes, beating Andrew by a narrow margin respectively.  I entered this Championship 3 times.  I was paid $100 to do this interview, and another radio show on 1190 KEX.  Plus, I scored a free hotel suite for a few nights, and a handful of buffet passes.  I was ranked #45 on Earth in competitive eating.  Keep that in mind next time you invite me over to your house.  I will eat all your food, and tell you it was about to go bad.  More soon.  Thanks for visiting my absurd blog.

You’re looking at the “Stephanie’s house” used in the 1986 cult classic Short Circuit starring Alley Sheedy, and Steve Guttenburg.  The address is 197 Hume Ave. in Astoria, Oregon.  Visit on your next trip to Clatsop County.  This is a historic landmark, and fun to see in person.  In the HD video above you can see the famous Astoria Megler bridge that goes to Washington.  It spans 4.1 miles over the Columbia River.  Thanks for watching.  More productions soon.
